Product description
The commandment is also a piece of work
Works exhibited and sold at the Masumi Ishikawa exhibition "Deep World Travel" held in April 2017.
Using proverbs as his subject matter, he uses rich expressive power to satirize modern society and its people. The appearance of a monster looking out from inside its mouth and looking like it might come out at any moment perfectly expresses the title, ``The mouth is the gate of disaster.''
The delicate brush strokes and bold color combinations created in the style of prints give the ukiyo-e, which has been passed down since the Edo period, a modern feel.

■Masumi Ishikawa / Painter
Born in Katsushika, Tokyo in 1978. In 2000, studied under Toyokuni Utagawa VI. After the sixth generation passed away, he studied ukiyo-e by himself and was active mainly in solo and group exhibitions. In 2007, he was in charge of producing ukiyo-e for the film ``Miyagino'', which is based on Sharaku. In 2010, he created "Nihonbashi Karuta" as part of the 100-year Nihonbashi area renaissance plan. In 2011, he was in charge of the package design for the "Salon du Chocolat 2011" limited edition box. In 2013, he was in charge of the summer and fall designs for Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi's "Japan Senses". Held a solo exhibition "Deep World Kitan" (2014). In February 2015, he released his first work using traditional Edo woodblock prints in a collaboration project with the world-renowned rock band "KISS." In July of the same year, he released three woodblock prints as a collaboration project with the movie "Star Wars." In 2016, he was in charge of the key visual for the 3rd anniversary of the complex "Grand Front Osaka". Presented two woodblock prints in collaboration with the heavy metal band Iron Maiden. Worked on the main visual for the TV drama "Ishikawa Goemon" (starting October 2016) starring Ebizo Ichikawa. Responsible for the ``Dark Lord Fallen Sukoro'' (Darth Maul) of the second woodblock print in collaboration with the movie ``Star Wars.''
