Isamu Gakiya's solo exhibition "GUNIEA MATE" will be held at B GALLERY

"B GALLERY" will be holding its first solo exhibition "GUNIEA MATE" by Isamu Gakiya.
While working as an illustrator, Gakiya continues to be active as an artist, participating in museum exhibitions and art festivals.
Born and raised in Okinawa Prefecture, Gakiya was influenced by the remnants of American culture that remain in Okinawa, and the images he creates evoke the worldview of postwar American horror, science fiction films, and American comics.
The title of this exhibition, ``GUNIEA MATE,'' is a fictional concept that does not actually exist.
Gakiya has so far reflected how we live in a mature modern society, with countless values and a large amount of information, but this exhibition aims to reflect how we live in a modern society. We propose each person's personal beliefs as ``GUNIEA MATE'', a concept similar to but different from religion or faith, and depict the people who ``GUNIEA MATE''.
Gakiya creates works using a variety of media such as painting, drawing, collage, and installation, but in recent years Gakiya has been actively working on creating oil paintings, and in this exhibition, he will use a computer-based method to create works. The exhibition will focus on new oil paintings based on digital collages.

Isamu Gakiya
Born in Okinawa City, Okinawa Prefecture, lives in Tokyo. While working as an illustrator, he continues to be active as an artist, participating in exhibitions at museums and art festivals. Born and raised in Okinawa Prefecture, Gakiya was influenced by the remnants of American culture that remain in Okinawa, and the images he creates evoke the worldview of postwar American horror, science fiction films, and American comics, as well as being influenced by a variety of media. Through the use of , it creates an image of a mixture of various times and places, reflecting the way we live in a mature modern society with a myriad of values and a large amount of information.
