To commemorate the completion of the "Eastern Japan Edition" and "Western Japan Edition" of the book "Japanese Izakaya Heritage" written by Kazuhiko Ota, an event was held at "BEAMS JAPAN" (Shinjuku).
2024.01.04
〈BEAMS JAPAN〉 will be held from January 10th (Wednesday) to January 31st (Wednesday) to commemorate the completion of the “Eastern Japan Edition” and “Western Japan Edition” of the book “Japanese Izakaya Heritage” written by Kazuhiko Ota. Tenugui made in collaboration with Kazuhiko Ota will be on sale at "BEAMS JAPAN" (Shinjuku), "BEAMS JAPAN Kyoto" and "BEAMS ONLINE SHOP".
The book ``Japanese Izakaya Heritage'' is written by Kazuhiko Ota, an art director, author, and izakaya explorer, who travels to izakayas all over Japan to discover ``Izakayas that were founded a long time ago and are built in the same way as before'' and ``Izakayas that have remained unchanged for generations. This is a book that records establishments that meet three conditions as izakaya heritage sites: ``continuing to do so'' and ``even if it is a long-established establishment, it protects the common people's establishment.''
In this collaboration, in addition to selling books, we will also sell "Japanese Izakaya Heritage Tenugui" created based on the original illustrations drawn by Kazuhiko Ota published in the book. Tenugui towels with designs of historic old-style izakayas are special items only available for this project, allowing you to experience izakaya culture. Additionally, customers who purchase 3,000 yen or more (excluding tax) at BEAMS JAPAN (Shinjuku) or BEAMS JAPAN Kyoto (including products related to this event) during the event period will receive a match signed and illustrated by Kazuhiko Ota as a novelty gift.

Learn how to behave as an adult and learn how to enjoy an izakaya. | B CULTURES
There are countless izakaya restaurants all over Japan. Isn't it a joke for adults to have their own standards for what constitutes a "good izakaya" and how to enjoy it since it's a familiar place? With this in mind, we visited Kazuhiko Ota, an art director and izakaya explorer who holds pop-up events at BEAMS JAPAN.
