The second installment of the "Izakaya Recommendations" event, which aims to preserve the greatness of Japanese izakaya culture, is being held!

2025.03.28

BEAMS JAPAN will be holding an event called "Izakaya Recommendation" from Friday, April 4th to Wednesday, April 30th, 2025 at BEAMS JAPAN Kyoto, BEAMS JAPAN, and BEAMS ONLINE SHOP.
Based on the idea that "the best way to learn about the cultures and communities of different parts of Japan is to go to an izakaya!", we will widely disseminate the appeal of izakayas, an important part of Japanese culture, from the perspective of BEAMS JAPAN.
This second event will focus on Kyoto in conjunction with the booklet "TSUGUTSUGU - Sake and Culture Connected" (※1), which introduces the izakaya culture of each prefecture while highlighting the attractive spots, people, and culture of each region. Kyoto's famous sake and sake ware will be on display.

Additionally, to coincide with the event, BEAMS JAPAN will be releasing new original izakaya goods.

In addition, this event will feature a stamp rally around Kyoto's izakayas! Collect three different stamps at 12 izakayas recommended by BEAMS JAPAN and at BEAMS JAPAN Kyoto, and the first 180 people to collect the stamps will receive special goods. *Only for people aged 20 or over.

*1: "TSUGUTSUGU - Sake and culture are connected" A local culture magazine that unravels the culture and charm of regions all over Japan, starting with "bar culture", written by the creative team of izakaya explorer Kazuhiko Ota's book "Japan Izakaya Heritage: East and West Edition". In the special feature "Future Izakaya Heritage", Kazuhiko Ota personally visits and interviews bars that have been loved by the local community and should be passed down to the future, based on the concept that "bars are the community of the place". In this issue, based on the theme of "Kyoto's Bars and Students", we feature izakayas that are supported by student part-timers, introduce the thoughts of the owners who treat their part-time students with care, and the culture that is being passed down from student to student. In addition, we delve into the various people we met at bars and the things and events related to the various regions we encountered during our interviews, including a conversation between the next generation of leaders who support the bar culture, and unravel the culture and charm of the places from our own unique perspective.
The items will be available at BEAMS JAPAN, BEAMS JAPAN Kyoto, and BEAMS ONLINE SHOP from Friday, April 4th. The items will be available at bookstores nationwide from mid-April onwards.
