Shohei Ochiai, an artist who has attracted much attention both in Japan and overseas, will be holding an art show called "Back to the Basics," which encapsulates the appeal of his dynamic and unpredictable shapes, three-dimensionality, and line drawings drawn with powerful pen pressure.
At this event, works focusing on Shohei Ochiai's creative foundations will be exhibited and sold, with the theme being "Returning to Basic Intentions," as translated into Japanese by the title.
This time, a special collaboration with BEAMS T has been realized for the first time. Many items will be released that boldly incorporate Ochiai's artwork. The lineup consists of six items in total: four T-shirts, one tote bag, and one blanket. This is a special collection that allows you to incorporate his worldview into your daily life.
In addition, a special Tamagotchi designed by Shohei Ochiai, which sold out in an instant after orders began the other day, and a triple collaboration T-shirt with BEAMS T will finally be released. If you missed out on the previous edition, don't miss this chance!
The Tamagotchi, specially designed by Shohei Ochiai, features original artwork on both the device and its packaging, and is peppered with homages to the Tamagotchi of its time.
Additionally, the first day of the event, Friday, August 1st, will be packed with special content.
On this day, Mamecchi and Kuchipatchi will appear at BEAMS T Harajuku for a greeting time, starting at 12:00 and 18:00 for about an hour each time. A special launch event will be held from 18:00 to 21:00, where you can meet the artist Shohei Ochiai with a drink in hand.

Shohei Ochiai
Born in Omiya, Saitama Prefecture. Graduated from Tama Art University, Department of Product Design. Has produced works depicting everyday items. His works are characterized by dynamic and unpredictable shapes, three-dimensionality, and lines drawn with strong pen pressure.
In 2022, he will provide his works for merchandise at the launch of the digital auction house "JOOPITER" hosted by Pharrell Williams. In 2023, he will hold a solo exhibition "THIS IS OCHIAI SHOHEI" at YUKIKO MIZUTANI in rada Art Complex II. In 2024, he will release a triple collaboration collection in partnership with NEWERA and the Yomiuri Giants. This year, he is expanding the scope of his activities both domestically and internationally, including starting to sell his works on the "JOOPITER Marketplace."
