As a "Holiday Shopping Guide," we have compiled a selection of Pilgrim-esque items that will naturally blend in whether you're out in the city, out in the field, or even on a special night. For the Fall/Winter 2013 season, we developed a number of original fabrics, including jacquard wool boa and random striped recycled wool.
Many of these are made in Bishu, Aichi Prefecture, known as one of the world's three major woolen textile producing areas.
Bishu is one of the few areas in Japan where the entire process from spinning to dyeing, twisting, weaving and knitting can be carried out in one place. Pilgrim Surf+Supply visits the area every season and continues to create products while engaging in dialogue with artisans.
What we value is "a sincere attitude towards craftsmanship and sustainability." We continue to choose domestic fabrics that are by no means cheap because we value the history, techniques, and passion of the makers behind them. We deliver the charm of the techniques and materials passed down in Oshu through everyday items.
One of the most noteworthy products is recycled wool produced in Bishu. Although it is made from recycled materials, Japan's advanced technology has resulted in a high-quality texture that is not inferior to virgin wool.
This season, Pilgrim Surf + Supply has produced original materials that are characteristic of the brand, such as jacquard wool boa inspired by the work of season's featured artist Richard Long and recycled wool with a random stripe pattern.
In addition, recycled wool is used in a wide range of everyday items, from outerwear and pants to bags and hats.
