Two Artists Connected by a Spirit of Rebellion: Toshikazu Nozaka and YUKI, Drawing and Dyeing

画家、文身師、スケートボーダーとして活動する野坂稔和さんの個展『横乗戯画展』と、その野坂さんからの紹介がきっかけとなった、染め職人YUKIさんのポップアップイベント『DYE』。この2つの催しが、7月31日（水）まで「ビームス ジャパン（新宿）」で開催中です。絵と染め物。表現こそ違っても、モノづくりという共通項で繋がり、その独自の世界観を認め合うこの先輩・後輩に、出会いから約10年という2人の関係性、そして自身の作品について語っていただきました。

The solo exhibition “Yoko-nori Giga Exhibition” by Toshikazu Nozaka—a painter, tattoo artist, and skateboarder—and the pop-up event “DYE” by dyer YUKI, who was introduced to us by Nozaka, are both currently on display at Beams Japan (Shinjuku) until Wednesday, July 31. Although their artistic expressions differ, these two individuals are united by a shared passion for craftsmanship and a mutual appreciation of each other’s unique worldviews. We invited them to discuss their nearly 10-year relationship since they first met, as well as their individual works.

漫画好きとファッション好きの両方から大きな注目を集めた、漫画家・つげ義春の名作『ねじ式』に焦点をあてたコレクション『NEMES×POWERHOUSE presents 1968』。この発売を記念して「TOKYO CULTUART by BEAMS（トーキョー カルチャート by ビームス）」で行われたポップアップイベントも先日、好評のうちに幕を閉じました。とはいえ、その熱はまだまだ冷めることなく、噂では海外にまで飛び火する可能性も!?　そこで改めて、〈ネメス（NEMES）〉ディレクターのZEN-LA-ROCKさんにコラボコレクションについて語っていただこうという寸法です。お相手は、『ねじ式』初体験のモデル・柴田ひかりさん。性別も世代も異なる2人が感じる『ねじ式』の魅力とは。

メンズファッション誌『スマート（smart）』（宝島社）で、フォトグラファーの内藤啓介さんが1997年から連載している『ちんかめ』は、ヌードやグラビアに洒落感をもたらした革新的で人気の企画。『スマート』2月号（2022年12月24日発売）では、いつもの『ちんかめ』と趣向を変え、モデルでアーティストの酒井いぶきさん、イラストレーターの田中かえさんの2人とコラボレーションし、よりアート性の高いビジュアルが完成しました。世代の異なるクリエイターがどのように出会い、どのように作品をつくりだしたのか。制作にまつわる話から、〈TOKYO CULTUART by BEAMS（以下、カルチャート）〉で開催中のポップアップイベントのことまで、3人に話を聞いてきました。

The "Chingcame" series, serialized in the men's fashion magazine "smart" (Takarajimasha) since 1997 by photographer Keisuke Naito, is an innovative and popular project that brings a sense of fashion to nudity and pin-up photos. For the February issue of "smart" (on sale December 24, 2022), He changed the theme from the usual "Chingcame" and collaborated with model and artist Ibuki Sakai and illustrator Kae Tanaka to create a more artistic visual. How did the creators of different generations meet and how did they create their work? We spoke with the three artists about everything from the production process to the pop-up event currently being held at "TOKYO CULTUART by BEAMS" (hereafter referred to as “CULTUART").

2002年にスタートした音楽レーベル「カクバリズム」が今年、設立20周年を迎えました。BEAMSではそれを記念して、レーベルを始めるきっかけとなった看板バンド「YOUR SONG IS GOOD（以下、ユアソン）」20周年に共作したアロハシャツのニューカラーを発売。そんな縁もあり、ツアー真っ只中で忙しい代表の角張さんと「ユアソン」のメンバーに20年の道のりを聞いてきました。

Kakubarhythm, a music label started in 2002, celebrated its 20th anniversary this year. To commemorate the occasion, BEAMS released new colors of aloha shirts co-created for the 20th anniversary of YOUR SONG IS GOOD, the signature band that started the label. Because of this connection, we asked the representative Mr. Kakubari, who is busy in the midst of his tour, and the members of YOUR SONG IS GOOD about their 20-year journey.

お笑いトリオ「グランジ」の五明拓弥さんと、音楽ユニット「group_inou」のimaiさんが、39歳にして免許合宿へ行ったのが2021年。その模様を漫画家・ごめたん名義で描いた処女作『39歳の免許合宿 〜ストーリーは自分（てめぇ）で創れ〜』のポップアップショップを、7月8日（金）から18日（月・祝）まで「TOKYO CULTUART by BEAMS（以下、カルチャート）」で開催します。初の実店舗発売を記念して、オリジナルのグッズも展開。期間中にはイベントも控えるお二人に、その道のりと裏話を伺ってきました。

Takuya Gomei of the comedy trio "Grunge" and imai of the music unit "group_inou" went to a driver's license training camp in 2021 at the age of 39. A pop-up store for Gomei’s first work, "The Drivers’s License Training Camp for 39-Year-Olds: Create Your Own Story", which depicts this event under the name of manga artist Gometan, will be held at TOKYO CULTUART by BEAMS from July 8 (Fri.) to 18 (Mon., holiday). To commemorate the first actual store launch, original goods will also be available. We asked the duo, who will also be holding an event during that period, about their journey and the story behind the event.

天久聖一と来夢来人をスチャダラパーのBoseはどう見る？

かわいらしいキーホルダーやステッカー、思わずニヤリとしてしまうTシャツを展開している〈来夢来人（らいむらいと）〉。〈トーキョー カルチャート by ビームス（TOKYO CULTUART by BEAMS）〉でも大人気で、5月27日（金）〜6月16日（木）までポップアップストアが開催されました。そんな〈来夢来人〉を主宰するのは、天久聖一さん。漫画家ではあるものの、映像制作をしたりコラムを書いたり、〈来夢来人〉をつくったり…。その多岐にわたる活動をさらに深く知るために、旧知の仲である「スチャダラパー」のBoseさんを交えてお話を聞いてみました。

LIMELIGHT offers cute key chains, stickers, and T-shirts that make you grin. LIMELIGHT is also very popular at TOKYO CULTUART by BEAMS, where a pop-up store was held from May 27 (Fri.) to June 16 (Thu.). Masakazu Amahisa presides over LIMELIGHT. Although he is a manga artist, he also produces videos, writes columns, creates LIMELIGHT, and so on. To learn more about his diverse activities, we sat down with him and his old friend Bose of Schadaraparr.

世界中を魅了し続ける怪獣、ゴジラ。1954年に1作目が劇場公開されて以来、数々の名作が生まれてきました。なかでも熱狂的なファンが多いのが、シリーズ11作目の『ゴジラ対ヘドラ』です。2021年に公開50周年を迎えたことを記念して、＜トーキョー カルチャート by ビームス（TOKYO CULTUART by BEAMS）＞では、ポップアップストアとコラボレーションアイテムを制作しました。アニバーサリーを祝うべく本イベントに参加してくれたのは、ロッキン・ジェリービーン（Rockin’Jelly Bean）さんと寺田克也さん。親交が深いからこそ繰り広げられた軽快なトークで、お二人にとっての『ゴジラ対ヘドラ』、今回の作品についてをお届けします。

写真家・森山大道を知る2組の証言。

Three Daido Moriyama enthusiasts express their thoughts on the famed Japanese photographer.

今年、日本を代表する写真家・森山大道氏についてのドキュメンタリー映画『過去はいつも新しく、未来はつねに懐かしい 写真家 森山大道』が公開されました。この映画の公開に際し、＜トーキョー カルチャート by ビームス（TOKYO CULTUART by BEAMS）＞では4月29日（木）〜5月23日（日）の間にポップアップを開催していたんです。今回はその会場に2組のゲストを呼んで、森山大道氏がどんな人物なのか、お話を伺ってきました。いままで、幾度も協力してきたBEAMS（ビームス）という視点を通して、森山大道氏の魅力を探ります。

A documentary film on Daido Moriyama, one of Japan’s most renowned photographers, called The Past is Always New, The Future is Always Nostalgic: Photographer Daido Moriyama was released this year. To mark the occasion, TOKYO CULTUART by BEAMS held a pop-up event from April 29th to May 23rd. More recently, we interviewed two groups of guests to learn more about the famed photographer, so read on to explore the world of Daido Moriyama from the perspective of BEAMS, which has built a cooperative relationship with him over the years.
