Over the past several years, BEAMS PLUS has traveled across Japan,
the United States, and Taiwan,
bringing our
BEAMS PLUS LIMITED STORE pop-ups to communities near and far.
Each destination allows us not only to present our products,
but also to share the culture, craftsmanship, and spirit that shape our brand.
This fall, we joined Gosen Knit Fes in Niigata—one of Japan’s
most storied knit-producing regions.
We invite you to experience the event through the accompanying video.

Just a short walk from Gosen Station stands LOOP&LOOP, a facility run by the Gosen Knit Industrial Cooperative. There, on the second floor, we created a limited-time BEAMS PLUS space — a compact but intentional environment crafted to carry our world into Gosen. Even though the event lasted only two days, we approached it with the same care and integrity that guide all BEAMS PLUS projects. Over the course of a year, we worked hand in hand with local artisans to develop four knit items—pieces conceived, produced, and shared in collaboration with the people of Gosen. This level of proximity between planning, making, and presenting is unusual in fashion, but essential to how BEAMS PLUS chooses to work.We transported custom-made fixtures from Tokyo to reflect our brand ethos, and on the first floor, we partnered with beloved local establishments—Torikan and Eiken Bakery—to offer the Torikan Burger, a playful yet heartfelt expression of our collaboration. From opening hour, the venue buzzed with visitors.

At BEAMS PLUS, product development typically begins with our directors working closely with partner factories. For this project, however, store staff—those who meet customers every day—joined the planning process to help shape four new knitwear pieces. For more than a year, these members journeyed to Gosen, studying the region's knit heritage, its techniques, and the hands behind its craft. Their learnings were woven directly into the product. For planners to stand alongside the craftspeople who create our garments and then communicate that story directly to customers—this is rare in the fashion industry, and deeply meaningful to us. It allows us to share not only knowledge, but the culture and human connection that give each garment its soul. In Gosen, the four essential roles of clothing—designing, crafting, distributing, and wearing—came together under one roof.

One of the highlights of Gosen Knit Fes is the open-factory program, where visitors step directly into the workshops of master artisans. Together with the festival committee, we organized “Behind the Scenes of Gosen Knit and BEAMS PLUS Product Development,” a tour offering a closer look at the creation of BEAMS PLUS knitwear. Participants visited the factories of Nakk Co., Ltd. and Saifuku Co., Ltd., where tradition and innovation sit side by side. Though machine knitting is part of the process, true character still emerges through the hands of artisans. For example, the brushing of mohair—key to its airy texture—is refined carefully, one garment at a time, using specialized equipment. Guests had the rare chance to experience part of this process themselves. Factory staff and BEAMS PLUS store members who led product planning shared insights throughout the tour. Visitors, including lifelong Gosen residents, expressed admiration for the depth of craftsmanship and rediscovered the beauty of their community through a fresh lens. This project reaffirmed one of our core values: to walk alongside local communities and grow together.

Pursuing sustainability means more than responsible production—it also means cultivating future generations. With that in mind, we created an opportunity to engage with local high school students. One month before the festival, we visited Gosen High School to speak about who BEAMS PLUS is, what it means to create clothing, and why Gosen is such a remarkable city.

Students who joined the class later assisted with festival operations and workshops, working side by side with BEAMS PLUS staff. Wearing BEAMS PLUS garments brought from Tokyo, they grew closer not only to the brand but also to their own community. Perhaps one day, one of these students will join BEAMS PLUS or become a craftsperson who continues Gosen’s legacy.

BEAMS PLUS is not just a brand that makes clothes.
We create culture, and we carry culture forward.
By continuing to create and tell these stories,
we believe
we can bring even more joy to everyone involved with clothing.

五泉とは?

Located about an hour from Niigata Station, Gosen City is one of Japan’s leading knitwear regions. Its roots lie in a long history of silk weaving, and today the city continues to uphold refined techniques while producing everything—from yarn dyeing to final garments—within the community. Surrounded by the Echigo Plain and clear mountain water, Gosen offers an environment ideal for knit production, as well as excellent rice and sake. Top left: LOOP&LOOP, the venue of our pop-up.
