Mr. Masashi Abe, currently the second generation owner of Yukogama in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, studied under Mr. Kōichi Takita after graduating from university. At the age of 26, he studied under his father, Yuko Abe, and then took over the kiln. After participating in a project to restore pottery excavated from ruins and experiencing the charm of Old Imari, he switched from pottery to porcelain. His works are mainly made of white porcelain from the Ri Dynasty and Ko-Imari period, but he also uses colored porcelain, Luli glaze, cinnabar glaze, and candy glaze.
