Founded in 1949, Hokuyo Glass, the manufacturer of Tsugaru Vidro, started out as a manufacturer of floating balls for fishing. The floating balls that blow up were praised for their reliable quality, and in 1973 they became the top producer in Japan. This is a workshop that creates handmade glass that evokes the image of Aomori's nature, using techniques such as ``air blowing'' cultivated over many years of manufacturing floating beads.
