One of Japan's leading interior designers. After World War II, he visited the United States and deepened his ties with Charles and Marc Eames and George Nelson. After returning to Japan, he advocated Japanese modernism, aiming for a uniquely Japanese modern design. In the early days of postwar Japanese design, he built the foundations of Japanese design together with Riki Watanabe, SORI YANAGI, Cho Daisaku, and Mizunoe Tadaomi.
