■ DesignThis reversible type is the most standard among souvenir jackets, with acetate fabric on both sides.
“WHITE TIGER” × “GOLD DRAGON”
The front side features a white tiger drawn from an overhead angle, a rare sight even among vintage sukajan jackets from the mid-1950s. By effectively leaving black fabric between the embroidery, the three-dimensional effect of the stripes is accentuated, creating a striking presence against the chic monotone body. The reversible side dynamically depicts a golden dragon emerging from the spray of waves. The dragon's body stretching through the clouds against the blue body creates a powerful composition, and the addition of an eagle and a tiger on the chest completes this luxurious piece, incorporating the three major motifs that are symbolic of sukajan jackets.
“EAGLE” × “BLUE TIGER”
This classic sukajan jacket from the 1990s by Tailor Toyo has been reissued for the first time in nearly 30 years. The wine-colored body features a striking eagle embroidery in vibrant orange gradations, while the multicolored ribbing skillfully brings the overall look together. The reversible side features a silver and navy "reverse color scheme," with the body and underarms inverted. The lustrous blue tiger embroidery, while monochromatic, realistically reproduces the fur and stripes thanks to the use of a needlepoint for shading. This luxurious piece allows you to enjoy the different impacts on both sides.
“EAGLE & TIGER” × “ROARING TIGER”
The front side features a rare design of an eagle and a tiger glaring at each other, even among vintage sukajan jackets from the mid-1950s. The word "Japan" is omitted, and each motif is embroidered in a prominent size, creating a powerful impact. The gradation of the eagle's wings and the tiger's stripes are meticulously rendered using colorful threads, while the dragon on the chest is delicately depicted with thin lines that highlight the green of the fabric. The reversible side features a roaring tiger, a classic sukajan motif. The muscular physique is realistically depicted with narrow horizontal embroidery, creating a three-dimensional effect and powerful impact that can only be achieved through skilled craftsmanship. The pink and black body, with a "reverse color scheme" where the color is darker under the sleeves than on the body, is a classic combination that was immensely acclaimed in 1950s culture.
“ALASKAN EAGLE” × “DOG SLED”
This souvenir jacket is a reproduction of the extremely rare and highly sought-after "Alaska Jacket." Based on a vintage design from the late 1950s, the front features a lightning bolt and polar bear embroidered on the chest, while the back features a bald eagle soaring over the ice floes and Mount McKinley. The message "America's Last Frontier," symbolizing Alaska's pristine natural beauty, is also engraved at the bottom. The tricolor body and three stripes on the sleeves are unique Alaska Jacket features. The reversible side features a rare black and orange color scheme, depicting Alaskan houses and totem poles, while the back depicts the aurora borealis, the Alaska Mountains, and an Alaskan husky dog sled. This faithful reproduction of the original sukajan jacket produced by Minato Shokai at the request of the U.S. military in the 1950s and sold at base stores.
