Beautiful gradation! The mysterious Kasenzan agate
This magatama (comma-shaped bead) is made from Kasenzan agate, which is characterized by its deep orange color developed over many years by geothermal heat. The design is an adorable, ancient style with a plump, thick shape. It has been crafted with great care to create beautiful curves with no sharp edges, as well as the color and luster. Kasenzan agate, which is of the highest grade [SA] and the next highest grade [AAA], is extremely rare, and processing it while retaining the natural orange color is an extremely difficult task, so each one is carefully crafted by skilled artisans. We hope you will take this opportunity to take a closer look at Kasenzan agate magatama.

Founded in 1877 (Meiji 10), we are the oldest established shop in Sanin, dealing in Izumo agate, magatama, minerals, and more, located in Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture. Our original magatama are made using blue agate (hekiseki, Izumo stone), a specialty of Izumo that is now almost impossible to harvest, and are crafted with the help of artisans, paying close attention to details such as thickness, curves, and degree of bulge, while retaining the image of ancient shapes.
