Paper balloons from Kyoto Karasuma Rokushichido, a long-established Japanese stationery brand that deals in washi paper from all over Japan.
"Mi" refers to a snake. It is said to be the messenger of Benzaiten, the goddess of water and the goddess of the arts and financial luck. As it brings rain, it is also a symbol of bountiful harvests and prosperous business. Furthermore, white snakes are considered to be "white = gold" in the theory of the five elements, so they are treasured as talismans for financial luck.
Paper balloons with the Chinese zodiac motif. These simple Japanese toys made of pasted paper are recommended as decorations, hanging them up in a swaying motion.
