■About Yakushi Kiln's Maneki-neko
CHUGAI TOEN, a ceramics studio in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture, a city with a history of over 1,000 years of pottery. Its name comes from the fact that a shrine to Yakushi Nyorai (Healing Buddha) was located where the company was founded. It's generally believed that a maneki-neko cat's right paw beckons money, its left paw beckons many people, and both hands beckon both. However, regardless of whether it's right-handed or left-handed, all Yakushi Kiln maneki-neko are beloved for their protection of Yakushi Nyorai (Healing Buddha) and their ability to bring good health and longevity. Each and every one of these warm-hearted maneki-neko cats is lovingly handcrafted by artisans under the supervision of the Maneki-neko Museum.
