Volume 2 of "Tsugu Tsugu," a new type of local culture magazine created by the creative team behind izakaya explorer Kazuhiko Ota's book "Japan's Izakaya Heritage," is set in the ancient capital of Kyoto and delves into the charms of the region, starting with its bar culture.
In the special feature "Future Izakaya Heritage," Kazuhiko Ota visits bars that should be passed on to future generations, and talks about the image of bars as part of local communities.
The theme of this issue is "Kyoto's Bars and Students." We introduce izakayas that are supported by student part-timers and the culture that is passed down from student to student. In addition, we interview local people who support the bar culture, and introduce local things and events that we encountered through our interviews from a unique perspective. This is a book that allows you to experience the depth of Kyoto through its bar culture.
