A sake distilled with the concept of incorporating new changes into unchanging wonderful things, following the concept of unchanging trends discovered by Matsuo Basho. We use the ``New Tubro Distiller,'' which is based on the old-fashioned tube distiller. The sake is made with wood from the Fukagawa area, which once prospered as a timber town, and a variety of botanical ingredients such as juniper berries and ginger to create a highly fragrant alcoholic beverage.
As Fukagawa once prospered as a lumber wholesaler town, Aomori Hiba is used as a botanical. If you drink it on the rocks or straight, you can enjoy the woody aroma of the key botanical Hiba and the sweetness of Japanese vetiver. When mixed with soda or tonic, the refreshing aroma of cypress spreads out, and the aftertaste is rich with botanical notes of Lisbon lemon, shiso leaves, and steamed ginger. This is a gin that you can enjoy even if you are not used to drinking gin.
■Origin of the name “FUEKI”
``FUEKI'' means something that does not change through the ages. It's a word that means unchanging. There is a phrase ``fuki fashion'' that is one of the haiku philosophy of Matsuo Basho, who is said to have lived in Tokiwa in Fukagawa for a long time. Fukagawa is a word that refers to ``incorporating new changes into things that remain the same.'' While good old culture exists in various parts of the city, Fukagawa is a city where many new cultures have blended in and become familiar. It fits well. It also serves as a guiding principle for Fukagawa Distillery, which revived Tublo distillation in modern times.
■Label design
This idea was born from the desire to create a design appropriate for the area of Fukagawa. I used a close-up of the water splashes from the water festival photo. The water festival is a big symbol of the culture that has continued since ancient times in Fukagawa, as well as the Tomioka Hachimangu Shrine Festival and the Fukagawa Shinmei Shrine Festival. The ``FUEKI'' design is an arrangement of photos of actual festival water splashes.
■About the front logo
The logo on the front is a logo that embodies our distiller, Nutubro. If you look closely, you'll see a tube and hidden letters. This original distiller is designed by Mr. Sekiya, who has a deep understanding of the structure of distillation due to his background in Rika->Rikashitsu, a science and chemistry school that has been in business for 90 years. This is a modern version of the tuber type distiller, an ancient Japanese distiller that existed in the former Satsuma domain, using glass, a symbol of physics and chemistry.
