There are various theories as to why this is the case, including that "Imabari people are impatient, so it's better to grill it quickly" and that "it's a shipbuilding town, so hot plates were easy to come by." Matsuyama chicken, raised in Ehime, was used as inspiration for this yakitori.
・Matsuyama Chicken Meatballs: Matsuyama chickens from Ehime are carefully raised on feed supplemented with essential oils, a combination of active ingredients extracted from various herbs and spices. Matsuyama chicken meatballs are lightly seasoned with onion and ginger to create a simple, homemade meatball.
・Pork salted with basil: Ehime, famous for its citrus fruits, also has a thriving pig farming industry, with the largest number of pigs in the Chugoku and Shikoku regions. It is one of the leading pig-raising prefectures in Japan. This Ehime pork is paired with the refreshing aroma of basil.
・Sakura smoked chips: Sakura has a strong aroma and goes well with a wide range of ingredients, including meat, seafood, eggs, and cheese.
