"Lamp de Bureau" is a small desk lamp made of a single steel plate. The light rays fly diagonally, illuminating your hands sufficiently, and the steel reflects the light effectively, spreading a gentle light. In France in 1930, the number of people going to university increased due to modernization, and the construction of student housing flourished in various places. Jean Prouvé designed numerous desks and storage shelves within the project, including the Lamp de Bureau, which he designed for the Mambois student dormitory in Nancy, northern France. Prouvé, who started his career as a metal craftsman, has worked hard to create products in a wide range of fields, from experimental steel products to furniture for public institutions and prefabricated houses. He called himself a "constructor" and his innovative approach has had a great influence on later architecture and industrial design.
