"Otaka Poppo" is a wooden carved toy handed down in the Sasano district of Yonezawa City, Yamagata Prefecture.

Made using the traditional technique of "Sasano Ittobori", it is popular as a lucky charm to ward off evil and increase one's wealth.
They were once made as children's toys, and it is said that "Poppo" means "toy" in the Ainu language.
They are made from a wild tree called "Ablanco" locally, carved with unique blades, and then painted, giving them a rustic appeal.
