DOEK is a footwear manufacturer that has been in Kurume for 140 years and produces sneakers. The name "DOEK" is a Dutch word derived from the Japanese word "zouk". Kurume Kasuri is a textile that originally meant ``fabric'' and has been rooted in Kurume for 200 years. I have been making products using Kurume Kasuri, and the idea behind making sneakers is quite simple: ``Create an attractive fabric, or find it and make high-quality sneakers.''
``DOEK COURT'' follows the design of outer blade tennis shoes, eliminates anything that makes a specific statement, and is made with consideration to the materials and making the most of them. The canvas I mainly use is coarse-grained canvas woven on a Kurume Kasuri loom. The ecru color is not dyed, so you can enjoy the original texture and expression of the fabric without losing weight. The black color is treated with paraffin. The footbed is made of cork, a naturally breathable material. Made using the vulcanized method, which is painstakingly handcrafted, it has a finish that is beautiful, easy to wear, and durable enough for modern living.
