[Regarding the use of pottery and porcelain]
●If you rinse the pan with water before serving food on it, it will be less likely to absorb odors or oil.
After washing the dishes, be sure to dry them thoroughly before storing them.
If you are concerned about stains or odor transfer, one preventative measure is to seal the pores. Put the dishes in a pot with rice water or water mixed with wheat flour or potato starch, and boil over low heat for 15 to 20 minutes. Then turn off the heat and leave to cool. After that, rinse lightly and dry thoroughly.
●Do not use in ovens. We do not recommend using microwaves or dishwashers.

Mizuho Kiln
Influenced by his grandfather, who collected old shodai pottery, Fukuda Hosui, who ran a folk craft store, opened his own kiln in 1973. The second-generation owner, Fukuda Rui, studied oil painting at university, then trained under his father Hosui, and then studied under Shimaoka Tatsuzo of Mashiko ware, before returning to his hometown to continue making pottery. Mizuho Kiln is committed to recreating old shodai pottery, and is passionate about researching glazes, using glazes based on ash glaze, which is a tradition of shodai ware. They are also particular about the straw and rice grains that are the source of the ash for the glaze. While inheriting and utilizing traditional characteristics and techniques, they incorporate techniques such as their own blue "indigo glaze", prints, and ridges to create pottery that suits modern life, regardless of whether it is Japanese or Western.
Shodai ware is a type of pottery representative of Kumamoto Prefecture that began about 400 years ago. Its techniques and methods are influenced by Korean ceramics. The deep beauty of the glaze and the free-spirited flowing patterns give it a simple flavor, and it lives on in everyday life as tableware for everyday use, and its powerful style is also loved as tea pottery. Shodai ware, characterized by a glaze that blends white over a deep indigo and blue base, is highly regarded as a work of art.
