The "SOBA" series is a porcelain reproduction of a one-of-a-kind ceramic piece that Fujio Ishimoto created for Arabia in Finland in 1994.
This series, which was reproduced in Tobe, Ishimoto's hometown and a pottery production center in Ehime Prefecture, features thin stripes carved by pressing the unevenness of a piece of cardboard together, and is expressed using the same technique as when Ishimoto created his works.
As the name suggests, it goes well with soba noodles, as well as Japanese and Western cuisine, and its simple appearance brings out the best in the ingredients.
