An original fennica handkerchief dyed at Higo Dyeing on Amami Oshima in Kagoshima Prefecture.
The fabric is dyed with tea tree bark, then repeatedly dyed with mud, and then further dyed with indigo to create the deep indigo color that is so appealing.
The expressive checkered pattern is tie-dyed, and features unique patterns and colors that are only possible with Higo Dyeing.
This is a special piece where the changes in the dye over time add to its flavor.
The indigo color is produced using a chemical indigo dyeing process, in which indigo is extracted using chemicals.
*Each item is hand-dyed by a craftsman, so there may be slight differences in the dyeing of each item.
