Ari Markopoulos's new photo book ``Denied'' brings together his outstanding photographic vision.
This is a record of a photographer's journey from New York to Athens, with a stop in London. Athens is the place Markopoulos used to go on vacation as a child and spend time with his relatives.

He was taken by his uncle to watch the Olympiakos soccer team play. He thought the stadium resembled an ancient Greek stadium, only the marble seats had been replaced with concrete stands and the pitch, which was once a dirt field, had been planted with manicured grass.
This photo book by Markopoulos evokes memories of these two aspects of Athens. Today, the city's riches are hidden in just a few neighborhoods, and the rest of the city is in ruins.
