Aphex Twin “Collapse EP” release commemorative in-store DJ event held

2018.09.05

< BEAMS RECORDS > will be holding an in-store DJ event to commemorate the release of Aphex Twin's latest work "Collapse EP" for the first time in two years, in conjunction with VOGUE FASHION'S NIGHT OUT to be held on Saturday, September 15th. will be held at "BEAMS RECORDS (Harajuku)".

After breaking their long silence and releasing their 2014 Grammy-winning comeback album "Syro," Aphex has made a complete comeback with the release of two EPs, a reboot under the name AFX, and appearances at major festivals around the world. Twin will release their latest album “Collapse EP” on September 14th (Friday), their first in two years. The preceding single "T69 collapse" (M-1) is a thrilling development of a precisely collapsed beat typical of Aphex Twin, which also shows elements of juke/footwork that are incorporated into his own live and DJ sets. This is the most contemporary content since Drukqs. The music video for the song and the artwork for this work were created by Weirdcore, who produced the legendary video at Fuji Rock Festival '17.

< BEAMS RECORDS > will carry the Japanese first limited edition CD (deluxe version with a special silver sleeve) of "Collapse EP", the imported limited edition 12", and the cassette tape produced in limited quantities. Also, from September 15th (Saturday) From 17:00 on the day of FASHION'S NIGHT OUT, Kotsu, a member of the house music collective "CYK" made up of four members born in the 90s, will perform a DJ set inspired by Aphex Twin.

James Album'' (1996), ``Drukqs'' (2001) and EPs. He released works such as "Come To Daddy" (1997) and "Windowlicker" (1999), and in 2014 released his first original album in 13 years, "Syro", followed by the release of two EP works and under the name AFX. They have made a complete comeback, including a reboot of the band and appearances at major festivals around the world, and appeared as the headliner at Fuji Rock Festival '17.

Kotsu (CYK/UNTITLED)

Born in 1995 in Ichikawa City, Chiba Prefecture. As a member of the house music collective "CYK", he organized CIRCUS, WWWβ, and Contact. The crew also held gigs in Osaka, Kyoto, and South Korea. Personally, I also hold irregular parties called ``UNTITLED'' at DJ BAR KOARA, which have more of a base element. While redefining the increasingly diverse culture in a flat manner, he produces output through DJing, graphic design, zine, party organization, etc. Although it has its roots in the Madchester movement, a fusion of dance and rock, it traverses across genres without being tied to any specific genre.
