“Fukushima Map” No. 15 – Iwaki Picture Streamer –
2019.03.01
The 15th installment of the project ``Fukushima Mono Map'' being held by `` BEAMS JAPAN'' will sell hanging scrolls, T-shirts, and handkerchiefs made from ``Iwaki Enobori,'' a traditional craft that has been around since the Edo period in Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture.
Since then, there has been a custom in the city of displaying ``Iwaki Picture Streamers'' during the Boy's Festival, and many of the designs have motifs of brave warriors, symbolizing the wishes for children to grow up strong and healthy, making them extremely delicate and powerful. It features a hand-drawn design.
This time, we have prepared three types of "Shoki", "Rising Dragon", and "Carp Climbing Waterfall" drawn by the artist of "Iwaki Enobori Yoshida" for "Fukushima Mono Map".
``Shoki'' represents evil spirits, the god of entrance exams, and protection against illness, ``Rising Dragon'' represents prayers for fulfillment of one's wishes, and ``Carp Waterfall Climb'' represents prayers for success in life.
We have prepared one-of-a-kind hanging scrolls with hand-painted original paintings, as well as T-shirts and handkerchiefs with each painting printed on them.
Please visit us by all means.
