< Thundercat × BEAMS RECORDS > Special collaboration! “Dragonball Durag” embroidered patch released
2020.04.02

With their 2017 album “Drunk,” Thundercat made the leap from a highly skilled bassist to a truly global artist, and has captivated many music fans. Their new album “It Is What It Is” will be released in April. It will be released on Friday the 3rd.
< BEAMS RECORDS > will be selling a limited number of embroidered patches as an official collaboration item in conjunction with the release of this album.
The patch is inspired by the music video for "Dragonball Durag," which can be said to be an important song on the album, and is based on the comical touch of the song. It was produced by Aoi Sangyo, which produces unique embroidered items with the company motto of "Love Contemporary Techno."

Thundercat- Dragonball Durag (Official Video)
In addition to Thundercat, this song features keyboardist Dennis Hamm, producers Flying Lotus, and Kamasi Washington. Directed by comedian/artist Zach Fox, who is one of his closest friends and also appears on the album, the music video features popular LA sister band Haim, R&B singer Kali Uchis, and comedian Quinta Branson also stars.
"There are two kinds of people in this world: those who do doo rags and those who don't know what doo rags are. Doo rags have superpowers. They're used to increase swag. ... Do-rags have an effect, they can change you. If you had one in your closet, you'd think about doing it tonight. But you never know what's going to happen, so the do-rag might come off. I can’t do it.” Thundercat
