On October 5, 2022, BEAMS JAPAN will release “Yakumo Wood Carved Bear,” which features the recently popular “wood carving bear” and conveys the charm of Yakumo Town, Hokkaido, the “birthplace of wood carving bears.” It will be held at “BEAMS JAPAN (Shinjuku)” and BEAMS ONLINE SHOP from (Wednesday) to November 2, 2022 (Wednesday).
BEAMS JAPAN has planned original goods to introduce the charm and history of Yakumo's uniquely developed wooden bear carvings. Using the branding iron on the sole of the carved wooden bear's foot, which was used to brand Yakumo's wooden carved bear before the war, as a trademark, we offer items that are easy to use on a daily basis, such as T-shirts, caps, tote bags, glasses, accessory cases, and neckties. preparation. We will also have products related to this theme, such as bells to protect against bears and aprons that are essential for carving wooden bears.
In addition, we will be selling carved bear goods such as teacups and bandanas featuring illustrations of carved wooden bears by artist Yumika Sakamaki by eight of Yakumo's most representative artists, using an approach unique to BEAMS JAPAN.

Yakumo's wooden carved bear talk show

Yukiko Tanaka
This is my 3rd year of learning from Mr. Chiyobo at the Yakumo Town Wood Carving Bear Course. His ancestors were settlers from Aichi Prefecture. She works as a storekeeper at a shop called ``kodamado'' in the town, and writes a blog called ``Staff Yukiko's Chat Box'' on the ``kodamado'' homepage. He is also one of the members who holds events such as the bear festival after hibernation and the bear festival before hibernation. He has discovered the charm of carved wooden bears, and as a town resident, he wants to spread the charm of carved wooden bears both inside and outside the town.
