We are releasing items commemorating the 120th anniversary of the birth of Yasujiro Ozu, the world-famous Japanese director!

Director Yasujiro Ozu has continued to capture the Japanese people and heart in his unique style, most notably with the film ``Tokyo Story.'' The so-called "Ozu style", which refined his unique low-position technique, had a great influence on film directors around the world.
This year, which marks the 120th anniversary of director Ozu's birth, Shochiku Co., Ltd. and locations around the country connected to director Ozu are collaborating to hold a series of commemorative screenings and events.
BEAMS JAPAN will be selling special collaboration items for this project from July to September.

To commemorate the 120th anniversary of Yasujiro Ozu's birth, the main visual for this project, artist Yu Nagaba, has drawn simple line drawings of representative scenes from seven of Ozu's most iconic works.
From among these, BEAMS JAPAN picked up ``Tokyo Story'', ``Aji no Aji'', and ``Ohayo'' and turned them into special collaboration items.

The first series, which will be released on Friday, July 14, 2023, will feature T-shirts and bags with Yu Nagaba's artwork on the front, and tabi socks featuring director Ozu's iconic pique hat.
The neck of the T-shirt will have a special name created for this project, and each item will also have a hangtag with a famous quote from director Ozu attached to it.
