A two-person exhibition "O-Phantom" by artist Tetsunori Tawaraya and silkscreen artist Yuichiro Tamaki will be held

A two-man exhibition "O-Phantom" by TET SUNO RI TAWARAYA, who moved to the US in the late 90s and has since been based in San Diego, exhibiting works in the fields of flyer art, comics, and silkscreen prints, and has enthusiastic fans not only in Japan but all over the world, and Yuichiro Tamaki, who is active in the fields of silkscreen print, drawing, sculpture, and performance, will be held at BEAMS T Harajuku from Friday, May 24th.

The concept of the exhibition, "O-Phantom," was inspired by the precious and beautiful "Edo Yokai Karuta" cards that were popular during the Edo period. The production began with the idea that "if we dismantle the concept of karuta and express ourselves freely as a duo, we might be able to create something new in visual expression."

The two have been friends for 20 years, but this will be their first collaboration together.
The two have collaborated on a 35-page silkscreen zine, which has been specially bound in a limited edition by Strane Dizioni, a maestro of Italian hand-made silkscreen bookbinding, to coincide with this exhibition.

In addition to the release of the limited edition silkscreen book, this exhibition will also feature eight posters and two collaborative original drawings, as well as apparel items for sale that feature the artwork.

In commemoration of the two-person exhibition, a reception party will be held on the first day from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, inviting a DJ with a connection to the artists.

Tetsunori Tawaraya

In the late 90s he began painting portraits of people and musicians in San Diego, California, and began creating ambitious experimental sci-fi graphic novels.

Using silkscreen and lithography, he has published grotesque and colorful art books.

Yuichiro Tamaki

Born and living in Tokyo. Works using silkscreen printing.
Collaboration with the music scene and other deep scenes.
His recent performances, which he calls "live screen printing," have been held at places such as PARCO's giant murals and the BnA Hotel.
