To commemorate the release of "OUTDOOR EXPED BOOK 99" by Shigeru Kaneko, a buyer at BEAMS PLUS, we will be holding an event called "EXPED CLUB" where you can experience the world of classic outdoor gear.

Vol. 9 of the "I AM BEAMS" personal book series, which brings together the personal charms of BEAMS staff who have a deep passion for fashion and BEAMS PLUS, was released on Thursday, March 27, 2025. The book is by Shigeru Kaneko, chief buyer at BEAMS PLUS, who has attracted attention from around the world for his clothes making based on his "EXPED knowledge OUTDOOR of vintage items. The book introduces 99 topics, including the collection of ultra-rare classic outdoor items that are the source of Shigeru Kaneko's ideas. (Click here for details)

To commemorate the release of the book, an event where you can experience the world of classic outdoors, "EXPED CLUB", will be held for a limited time from May 17th (Sat) to 25th (Sun) on the 3rd floor of BEAMS Harajuku.

The exhibition will feature carefully selected items from Kaneko's collection of classic outdoor items. In addition, members of the Outdoor Recreation Archive (ORA), known as the world's best outdoor resource center in the library of Utah State University, will be visiting Japan for the first time, providing a rare opportunity to see rare catalogs of outdoor brands that are usually kept securely in university libraries. This will be the earliest opportunity in Japan to purchase The Outdoor Archive, a book introducing the archive of magazines and catalogs of outdoor brands held by the Outdoor Recreation Archive, and items specially curated for this event by stylist Manabu Harada, who Kaneko spoke to in the book, will also be on sale.
Additionally, a talk show will be held over the weekend featuring members of ORA's management team as well as guests well versed in classic outdoor gear.

The exhibit features items taken from Kaneko's collection of extremely rare classic outdoor items that he has amassed over the years.

Classic Outdoor Catalog Library

Members of the Outdoor Recreation Archive, "the world's best outdoor resource room" located inside the Utah State University library, came to Japan for the first time with rare catalogs of outdoor brands that are usually kept securely in the library.
During the event, you will be able to actually look at many catalogs, and it will be a valuable opportunity to hear explanations directly from ORA members.

Sales of the book "The Outdoor Archive"

The Outdoor Archive, a book showcasing magazine and catalog covers from over 70 carefully selected brands from the archives of outdoor brands held by the Outdoor Recreation Archive, will be on sale. This is the earliest opportunity to purchase the book in Japan.

Classic Outdoor Items curated by Manabu Harada

Approximately 650 items will be on sale, curated for this event by stylist Manabu Harada, who has a deep knowledge of classic outdoor wear and who Kaneko spoke to in his book. The corner will be expanded from the 20th (Tuesday) and new items will be added.
