This is the time when people who are busy day and night can be the most themselves. Because you have limited time, you can focus on what you like and what is important to you, interact with people you wouldn't normally meet, and enrich your lifestyle. A new series of B:MING by BEAMS has started, focusing on people who naturally enjoy such "morning activities". The third installment is about Saori Watanabe, an actress and talent who is active in a variety of fields, including dramas, movies, and various information programs. Her morning starts with English conversation.

Every day, I started to feel refreshed.
My mind is more relaxed than my body.

Q: First off, what does “morning” mean to you, Watanabe?

``Part of it is that I simply don't like staying up late, but morning is when I'm most active. That's why, ever since I was little, I've had the habit of cramming everything into the morning.I think everyone stays up all night studying for exams and tests, right? I'm not the type of person who goes to bed early at night and wakes up at 4 or 5 a.m. to study.I still try to go to bed around 10 p.m. unless I have to work late. ”

Q: English conversation in the morning seems like a natural thing to do, rather than forcing yourself to do it.

``Even after I started working, there were many morning programs, so I was able to naturally continue being a morning person. My schedule is irregular during the day, so it's easier to make a schedule in the morning.English conversation lessons start at 7 o'clock. In that case, I don't have to worry about starting work from 9 o'clock.Although it's not a regular thing, I also go to the gym twice a week, and have a chiropractor once a week, so I generally schedule my work in the morning. If I don't have anything else to do, I play games in the morning. I love Splatoon (laughs)."

Having conversations rather than studying on your own will be more helpful overseas.

Q: What made you start learning English conversation?

``When I was a university student, I studied abroad in the United States for a short period of time, so I had a strong desire to do a job where I could use English, but since I started this job, I have had the opportunity to interview Hollywood stars. Sometimes I think it would be fun if I could speak more, or I would like to be able to talk to people on location overseas without any inconvenience. It's been about a year and a half now, but I still study on my own. Rather than having a conversation, you'll be able to quickly come up with words when you go abroad.Basically, the lessons involve dialogue by asking questions and being asked questions about the assigned tasks. By the way, I met my teacher, Owen, through a friend. He is also more stoic and a hyper-morning person than I am. He is the kind of person who wakes up after 4 a.m. every morning and quickly climbs up Mt. Takao before class. .I may have had some influence from him.”

Q: How does working in the morning affect other times of the day?

``I feel like I can run with the engine running. When I do a lot of things in the morning, I imagine that I can start sprinting, accelerate, and run through.I'm not good at saving anything, so I try my best.'' This also increases your physical strength.People ask me if I don't feel sleepy if I work hard in the morning, but surprisingly, my adrenaline keeps flowing. Also, there's one thing I'm proud of: In my school life, I fell asleep during class. I've never had that happen to me! When I was in high school, I had a hard club that practiced in the morning, afternoon, and night. Also, I saw a documentary about Anna Wintour (from the US version of Vogue). The words of the famous editor-in-chief, ``I get inspired while I'm on the move,'' are memorable. Also, I try not to sleep as much as possible while traveling for work. ”

Q: Is there a switch to change the way you are after your morning activities are over?

"Hmm, I don't know. When it comes to clothes, it may be my policy not to wear skirts in the morning. I feel like I want to move in the morning, so I think a casual pants style will give me a boost. , I feel like it's easier to get off to a quick start. If I want to go out to lunch with friends, I'll change into a dress and go out. I've started to enjoy differentiating my fashion depending on the occasion and time of day. I used to do my morning routine. It's a habit I've had since then, but as I've gotten older, I've started to feel more refreshed by taking better care of myself.I feel like my mind has become more relaxed than my body."

Having friends with whom you can share things helps you do your best.

Q: How do you stay motivated?

``First of all, I need to get a good night's sleep. And I also want to have someone with whom I can share the joy of the morning activities. It can be heart-breaking to be alone, but if you have an appointment with your teacher for English conversation, you can do the work you did the day before. I can do my best even if it's late, and when I'm done, I feel good about what I did. That's why when you go to a cafe in the morning, there are many people who are working.Even if it's a stranger, you can enjoy the atmosphere I wonder if it would be nice if we could share it.”

Q: Lastly, please tell us the appeal of morning activities.

“Mornings are usually between 5am and 9am, which is my favorite time of the day. I get better at everything I do, and I'm more active than I am during the day or at night. That's why I have 30% energy. It's a % increase. By that amount, my mobility at night is probably only about 1/3 (lol)."
