In Part 5, we asked actress and model Rei Yobuki, who travels all over the world for work, to tell us about the appeal of running in the morning.

Running is a way to calm your mind
Q: Mr. Ibuki, when did you start working in the morning?
``When I was a student, I was in the volleyball club, so I was always good at studying and practicing before club activities in the morning.After I started working, the only time I had free time was in the morning, so In order to acquire knowledge that I could apply to my work, I went to a nearby cafe to read an hour before work, and used the morning to challenge myself in various ways.''

Q: When did running become a part of that?
“I guess it all came about because of your work on the Nagoya Women’s Marathon, which was held in March 2019. I served as an image model, but I ended up actually running on the day. I started preparing for the race little by little last summer, but since I didn't like running to begin with, at first I just felt like it was going to be hard. But once I was able to run a distance of about 10km, I gradually started to have more leeway, and that's when things began to change and I started to think, ``Ah, it feels good.'' From then on, I got addicted to running every day, but I ended up doing it too much and getting injured. I had been playing volleyball for about 17 years, so I had old injuries all over the place. It kept getting worse and I ended up hurting my ankles and knees. I wasn't able to get my condition right until the very end, but when I actually ran, I saw so many people cheering me on, which really gave me strength. Next time, I would like to participate in an overseas tournament.”

Q: Since you started, not only your body but also your mind has changed.
``I feel like I've learned how to flatten my mind. I run to keep my mind in shape. I think a lot when I'm running. I always try to run before an important audition or a job that makes me nervous, but I try to get rid of all the nervousness and excitement, and get rid of all the things that I think I have to do in my head. It's an important tool for me because it allows me to say, ``Let's just keep doing it in our own way!''

Q: How do you decide on the course and the music while running?
``There are days when I want to go around this course several times today, and when I have a little free time, I decide on a target between several kilometers and then run freely on the road until then.Enjoy the sense of smell. , but when I'm driving through places I don't usually pass by, I often notice things like, ``There's a cafe in this place!'' When it comes to music, I only listen to up-tempo songs to get in the mood. Every time I start running, I start with ``Little Glee Monster.'' I want to start with a happy and positive song.”

I was impressed by the breakfast I had after finishing my run.
Q: Have you ever felt something new since you started running?
``Eating breakfast after finishing a run! I thought that I could continue running if I could eat such delicious food.Maybe that's what made me want to continue running.Also, relaxing and drinking coffee that I made myself is an important time for me. You could even say that I run to enjoy coffee elegantly.Before I started running, I was always pressed for time, but now my life is much more organized.Including meal times, my It’s a morning activity.”

Q: Lastly, please tell us the appeal of morning activities.
``To be honest, sometimes it's hard to wake up in the morning and go for a run, and sometimes I don't even want to go, but once I'm done running, I'm glad I went.I try not to forget that feeling. That's what I thought.It clears my brain, helps me get through the day more effectively, and more, but it just makes me feel happier.Also, I think I'll be able to say hello in a really nice way that morning!Right before I leave, I think there's a huge difference between waking up and saying, ``Good morning,'' with a low energy while still half-asleep, and saying ``Good morning,'' with a refreshed feeling after getting up early and running for an hour.''
