A heartwarming night on a chilly winter day.

MANGART BEAMS is a project that deals with a wide range of manufacturing and branding projects for pop culture and entertainment.
MANGART BEAMS was in charge of planning and producing, including art direction, and Weekly Playboy (published by Shueisha) was in charge of editing, and ``BE {}, a set of T-shirts, gravure booklets, and stickers, received a great response immediately after its release. To commemorate the publication of ``Bee'', a talk show between Hiroe Igeta, a model for the magazine, and photographer Kazutetsu Matsuoka will be held at Daikanyama Tsutaya Bookstore on Monday, December 26th!
We asked Tsumugi Takata Tachibana of BEAMS Creative, who was in charge of production and art direction for this shoot, about what happened during the shoot.

The venue had a peaceful mood from beginning to end due to the personalities of the two! There will also be a special time at the end where you can get your favorite photos autographed. Once again, thank you to everyone who participated. This time, we will share the details of the venue for those who were unable to attend due to scheduling conflicts or the venue! We would like to introduce some of the contents of the talks held on the day.
< MANGART BEAMS > will continue to send out new things and things that can only be experienced here.

TALK

TALK

— Please tell us the story behind the shooting.
Hiroe Igeta (hereinafter referred to as HI): There are so many! Where is the back? ! Is it a table? (lol)
On the first day, I went to Hatoya Hotel, and the Hatoya T-shirts sold at the shop there were so cute! It's a T-shirt that simply says "Hatoya" on the chest. We decided, ``Let's actually take a photo wearing this,'' so we hurriedly put on the Hatoya T-shirt and took a photo. In fact, the T-shirt was so cute that all the staff members bought it. We had a photo shoot the next day, and to my surprise, everyone was wearing them (lol).
Ittetsu Matsuoka (hereinafter referred to as IM):That's what I was thinking too...(lol)
HI: I caught Ittetsu's back! Well then, let's talk about something else (lol)
I.M.That's right, everyone came wearing their clothes on the second day, but Mr. Igeta used a magic marker to write "Hatoya" on those who didn't wear them.
I thought, "Isn't that the best answer?! I want that!!"
HI:I had fun! Honestly, the teamwork was really good from beginning to end.

I.M.:Everyone buys it and takes pictures on the spot, something that would be difficult to do on a normal set. It was a shoot that valued that kind of freedom.
HI: Also, will you be going to the pool? ! That's what it became.
I.M.:That wasn't in the plan either, there's a heated pool! That was about it. The weather is nice and warm, so can we go to the pool? ! It's about as light.
Rather than trying to photograph something with a strong gravure feel, I get the impression that they valued the atmosphere and atmosphere of the scene.
HI: Yes, that's why the photo at the pool shows her enjoying herself. The makeup was already running off.
However, the pool here was really hot, it was like a sauna (lol)
I.M.: It was cooler in the water (lol) Mr. Igeta, you really looked like you were having the most fun swimming. The smile in the pool was real!
HI: I felt embarrassed because I looked like a child, like an elementary school student.
I.M.:It's amazing that you let me use that in the paper.

— Could you tell us about the process of creating “BE {}”?
Kittaka Tsumugi (hereinafter referred to as KT): Above all, the photos were so good that it was hard to choose one. It was actually a two-day shoot, but even among the large number of shots, there were so many wonderful ones.
IM: Now that I think about it, as soon as we started filming, Mr. Igeta's wide range of expression and quick judgment were a bit unusual.
Even though I didn't take many days to take the photos, the speed at which I was able to get to the point I was looking for was unusual, and in that sense, I was able to produce a lot of great photos.
In fact, the number of pages is limited, so I was worried about which ones to remove.
T.K.: Regarding the specifications of the book, we were aiming for a ``new form of gravure'' this time, so although it is a book, it is not closed but has an elastic closure.
The cover is also double A-sided, so those who purchase it can rearrange it to their favorite Igeta cover.
HI:amazing!
T.K.:I thought you could rearrange the pages as you like and create your own photo book. I hope everyone can enjoy it.
IM: You can also put it up like a poster.
HI: You really have a lot of freedom.

— Is there anything you value when taking photo shoots?
HI: I think that in modeling, you have a certain idea of what you want to show, such as clothes, and the goal is to show it off, but in gravure, you don't have a goal, so you have to decide what you want to show. I want to do it without any problems.
Eliminate as many negative feelings as possible and try anything! Let's show it! I try to approach it with this feeling.
I also think it's important to maintain a sense of distance from the photographer, so I try to free myself as much as possible, or rather, do it before I'm told to do it! Let's move! I think this is something that they are very conscious of. What do you think? (lol)
I think Mr. Ittetsu is a genius at taking things like that. She's very tolerant and has a very positive outlook on what I do, so it's easy for me to suggest things like, ``Would you like to try this out?'' I think that's why I was able to take such close-up photos in two days.

IM: It must be difficult to create something that is close to 100 pages. I am always careful to be aware of this. I think that's true not only for gravure but for all photo shoots, but especially when it comes to gravure books, there's a lot of volume, so it's actually that easy to do all of them with different poses and different expressions on each page. That's not a big deal.
I think it's important to create an environment and situation that is fun and easy for the person being photographed.
Try adding or subtracting a little bit from there. I try to take pictures of the people I photograph as freely as possible, so I always try to think about them so I don't get tired.
T.K.:Ichitetsu-san's tolerance was evident even on the set of this shoot.

MESSAGE

I hope you will enjoy it in a different way than before!
Gravure is very deep, and there are various stories behind the photos that appear on the outside.
``BE {}'' expresses this carefully.
I would be happy if you could feel the softness and atmosphere that I created with Mr. Ittetsu.
(Hiroe Igeta)

This is a book that will give you the opportunity to “change the concept of gravure”.
It's full of Igeta's charms, so please check it out.
