These Special order glasses were developed jointly with Sasaki Celluloid Kogyosho, a pioneer of domestically produced plastic glasses, and are custom made for BEAMS JAPAN.

The theme is "glasses within glasses," and based on the so-called orthodox and simple Wellington style, we asked the designer to convey the shape they had in mind and selected the frame color. The plastic (acetate) frame material is an environmentally friendly frame that uses "bioplastic" developed by the Italian company MAZZUCCHELLI. The lenses are designed to cut the blue light emitted from computer and smartphone screens, weakening the blue light and reducing eye fatigue and ultraviolet rays. The included glasses case and cleaning cloth also feature the BEAMS JAPAN logo.

Using the technology and methods that Sasaki Celluloid Industry has cultivated over the years, this is a masterpiece that brings out the maximum appeal of plastic material, achieving both functionality and design.

Wellington style: A wide, rounded rectangle that resembles an inverted trapezoid. It gives a calm, formal impression.

What is bioplastic?
Plastic is made from natural materials and has the characteristic of being biodegradable, so when exposed to the natural environment, it is broken down by microorganisms and enzymes and can be returned to the natural world.
