This blanket was made in Oshu, an area with a long history of wool recycling. Made from recycled wool, the blanket is just the right thickness, yet light and supple, with excellent heat retention. Different colored warp and weft threads are used, and the surface is brushed to create a soft, marbled color. The blanket is woven slowly and carefully on an old-fashioned loom called a "rapier," by craftsmen who are careful not to put strain on the thread. The edges of the blanket are finished with blanket embroidery, which is both strong and soft.

Recycled wool from Bishu
In the Bishu region, recycled wool is called "keshichi." Discarded wool fibers, such as old sweaters, scraps from sewing factories, and cotton waste from spinning factories, are collected and carefully sorted by artisans. To create yarn with a high wool content, the fibers are sorted and the colors are adjusted, resulting in yarn that can be used without dyeing and has a low environmental impact.
