Daiyo was founded in 1914 by Yoichiro Onishi in Imazu-cho, Takashima City, Shiga Prefecture, and has been in business for over 100 years through four generations. Daiyo has been making Japanese candles of the highest quality, backed by the best materials and techniques. The Japanese candles made by Daiyo are made entirely from plants, and are characterized by low soot and low staining of rooms. These candles are made from rice bran wax, which is not only environmentally friendly, but also safe to use as there is little wax dripping or oily smoke.
