■About Yakushi Kiln's Maneki-neko
Yakushi Kiln is a brand of CHUGAI TOEN, a ceramics studio in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture, a city with a history of pottery spanning over 1,000 years.
The name comes from the fact that a shrine to Yakushi Nyorai was located where the company was founded. It is generally said that the right paw of a maneki-neko invites "money," the left paw invites "many people," and both hands invite "both." However, all maneki-neko from Yakushi Kiln, whether right-handed or left-handed, are beloved as bringing "health and longevity" through the protection of Yakushi Nyorai. Under the supervision of the Maneki-neko Museum, each and every maneki-neko is lovingly handcrafted by artisans.
