■ Design
WHITESVILLE presents a jacket featuring a design from a sukajan jacket that was produced in the late 1950s by Minato Shokai (the predecessor to Tailor Toyo) at the request of the US military and sold at the PX at the Alaskan base. This item embodies all the techniques of the good old days, including the "yokofuri embroidery" used in sukajan jackets, the "sagara embroidery" used in varsity jackets, and the "chain embroidery" used in bowling shirts.
■ Material
The award jacket features a body made of highly insulating 30-ounce wool melton, and sleeves made of American-made steerhide that develops a beautiful patina over time. The lining is quilted rayon cotton, providing excellent warmth, easy to slip on, and a comfortable fit.
