■Characteristics of natural Aomori Hiba
Aomori Hiba is famous for being a corrosion-resistant and durable building material. It also has strong antibacterial and insect-repellent properties, and has long been used for shrines, temples, castles, and other buildings. The essential oil extracted from Aomori Hiba contains over 40 different components, and among them, trees that contain hinokitiol and β-dolabrin are rare around the world, and Aomori Hiba is the only one in Japan that does so. At Cul de Sac JAPON, we obtain natural oils from waste Aomori Hiba trees that are over 250 years old by steam distillation.
