It has excellent durability and insulation, and is easy to use.It is carefully coated with lacquer and has a special specification with the < BEAMS JAPAN > logo on the bottom. It is a vessel suitable for everyday use, with a feel similar to natural wood and the unique gentleness of lacquer. This item, handmade by skilled craftsmen, makes a great gift.
What is Chinkin?
This method uses a knife called a chinkinto to carve pictures and patterns, and then fixes the gold leaf powder and pigments with lacquer. There are techniques such as ``line carving'', ``dot carving'', and ``katakiri carving''. A major feature is that the hardening of the lacquer creates an adhesive effect that prevents the gold leaf from falling off.
What is Echizen lacquerware?
Lacquerware crafts have been made in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture and the surrounding area for over 1,500 years. In Sabae, there have been many lacquer craftsmen for a long time, and because of the availability of high-quality lumber, the technique of making lacquerware has been cultivated. While incorporating decorative techniques from various regions, we continue to develop and create durable vessels by incorporating not only bowls but also synthetic resins and chemical paints to suit the times.
