Product description
Designs painted as offerings
These flat plates are from Hirado Shozan Kiln, a company that boasts 400 years of history and continues to create delicate and elegant tableware.

The Amakusa pottery stone used in Mikawachi ware is low in iron and is a material suitable for white porcelain. Firing at high temperatures enhances the color of the gosu and makes it smooth to the touch. Furthermore, the use of transparent glaze accentuates the beauty of the white porcelain, makes the blue of the gosu more vivid, and beautifully expresses thin lines. The technique of painting the clay in a single color of blue before firing requires skilled technique, and is all done by hand.

[Pattern]
Presentation of Chinese children: Chinese children, a pattern representative of Mikawachi ware, were one of the gifts given to the shogunate and the imperial court during the Edo period. Presentation of Chinese children has a specific style, and they are depicted with pine trees, rock peonies, the rim ring crest, and Chinese children playing.

[Precautions for use]
-Due to the position of the product in the kiln and temperature differences during firing, the way the glaze melts and flows may change, resulting in uneven glaze, but please note that this is a characteristic of the product.
・Ceramics and porcelain products may crack or chip due to strong impact or sudden temperature changes. Never use chipped or cracked products as it may cause unexpected accidents.
・Avoid washing the item while washing it, but remove dirt immediately and dry it thoroughly before storing it.
・Do not use a metal scrubber or cleanser to rub the product too hard as this may scratch the surface.

What is Mikawachi ware?
In the Edo period, Nagasaki Prefecture's Mikawachi ware was a pottery maker that established an official kiln to make vessels and gifts for Lord Matsuura, the feudal lord of the Hirado domain, and left behind a legacy of elaborate pottery that was made without regard for profit. Since the Meiji period, the ware has gained popularity for its delicate craftsmanship and shapes, catering to the wealthy both in Japan and overseas. This spirit of "taking the time" has been passed down uninterruptedly to the present day.
