This handkerchief from Yamazaki Asaorimono Kobo is made using Noto Jofu, one of the top five fine fabrics in Japan.
■ Design
Noto Jofu features simple yet modern colors, stripes, luster, and hand-woven texture. It is a design that allows you to casually enjoy traditional techniques and is perfect for everyday use.
■ Material
Taking full advantage of the characteristics of ramie, this fabric has a cool, crisp feel and sweat-absorbing properties. It is a plain weave fabric that is smooth to the touch with little pilling, and is a durable material that can be washed at home.
*The pattern may differ slightly from the image due to where the fabric was cut during production.
【Notes】
・It can be washed at home. Please wash by hand (with water or neutral detergent) by pressing.
・Because chemical dyes are used, the color will hardly fade.
-When hand washing, it may shrink slightly, but you can easily remove any wrinkles while it is wet.
・When using an iron, spray it with a mist and apply a cloth.
What is Noto Jofu?
It is a high-quality linen fabric that has a cool texture, is transparent like cicada wings, has a firm, lustrous, and crisp feel, and is popular for summer kimonos. It is characterized by its delicate and elegant Kasuri patterns created by Noto's unique craftsmanship techniques called comb printing and roll printing. It has been designated as an intangible cultural property by Ishikawa Prefecture.
*About BEAMS JAPAN original wrapping service
Founded in 1891 as a dye shop. We are the only weaver to inherit the traditional craftsmanship of Noto Jofu. We are working to pass down the traditional techniques that have been preserved for generations, as well as the culture and aesthetic sense of jofu, Japan's traditional summer kimono, to the next generation. We develop fashion and accessories products from thin and light summer kimono fabrics, which are sometimes described as ``cicada wings.''
