Founded in 1984 on the Isle of Wight by artist Ged Wells, Wells is an art-driven streetwear brand. Inspired by skate culture and a DIY spirit, Wells began by producing hand-painted clothing. After relocating to London, Wells partnered with Slam City Skates to fully expand its operations. With its unique character art and storytelling, Wells' influence spread to the fashion and music scenes, and in 1990, it entered the Japanese market through an introduction by Hiroshi Fujiwara. In the 1990s, Wells functioned as a cultural hub, based around a shop and gallery. Today, Wells continues to express itself across the boundaries of art and fashion, espousing a "sculpted identity." In 2024, Wells will hold an anniversary exhibition in Harajuku, Tokyo, to commemorate the brand's 40th anniversary.
AN ARCHI C ADJUSTMENT
Founding the streetwear brand AN ARCHI C ADJUSTMENT in 1986, he began working across the boundaries of counterculture and design, drawing on his background in BMX and skateboarding. After moving to California in 1989, he established a unique graphic style that combined early rave culture, psychedelic thought, and technology, expanding his horizons through contributions to publications such as Wired and ondo 2000, as well as his involvement in film visuals. After numerous international collaborations, including in Tokyo, he founded the Imaginary Foundation in 2002. In recent years, he has announced collaborations with PALACE SKATEBOARDS and NEIGHBORHOOD, and as of 2025, he is continuing his work to return to the origins of counterculture, with the theme of revitalizing AN ARCHI C ADJUSTMENT.
