Issue 35 of the Spanish interior magazine
French artist Camille Henrot graces the cover, pictured talking with Berlin-based art critic Estelle Hoy at her home on Manhattan's Upper West Side.
The surreal landscape was captured by New York-based photographer Heather Sten, who is the magazine's fourth cover photographer, making her the most ever. Ahead of the release of Anro's new film, "In the Veins," Sten writes in this cover story imagining a future shaped by amazing "everyday acts of care."
The back cover of the magazine features text drawn by American singer-songwriter Deaton Chris Anthony. The large, holographic letters are eye-catching. The magazine also includes an "admin reveal" that gives the first behind-the-scenes look at Anthony's work under a pseudonym, along with insights into his collaborations with British singer-songwriter Charli XCX and others.
Moroccan writer, journalist and feminist activist Leila Slimani reflects on her move from Paris to Lisbon with fellow writer, journalist, poet and painter Jina Khayyer, as an attempt to escape the constraints that came with being a known author in France. "It's not good for an artist to live in a context where you know everything," she says, "where you own all the norms."
Screenwriter Efthimis Filippou (The Lobster, The Killing of a Sacred Deer) has written an original screenplay, 14 Stout Men, and will host the customary impromptu Q&A. Cinematography is provided by longtime friend and collaborator, filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos.
Also featured are Vivian Suter, Darius Khondji, Raul Lopez, Steve Bailey, Robert Plunket, Huong Dodinh tone Wendy Whiteley, Catherine Schroeder, Zhou Yilun, Erna Aaltonen & Howard Smith, Chilly Gonzales, and Dan Friedman.
The book also features essays by writer and film director Durga Chew-Bose, Apartamento co-founder, photographer, publisher, and creative director Nacho Alegre, fashion critic and journalist Charlie Porter, short story writer Silvina Ocampo, film director Lina Soualem, writer Yilin Wang, novelists Nate Lippens, and Hiroko Oyamada.
