A collection of works by American film director and photographer Larry Clark Clark.

With Gus Van Sant as executive producer and Harmony Korine, who was 19 at the time, writing the screenplay, the film Kids (1995, released in Japan in 1996) was the director's debut. It gave audiences a glimpse into the lives of teenagers in New York City, where they spend all day skateboarding, partying, having unprotected sex, and doing drugs, all without adult supervision, and became a huge hit across the United States.

This book is compiled from an archive of photographs taken by the artist while he was directing the film from 1992 to 1995. The candid images of New York in the 1990s represent a somewhat mythologized moment. To realistically portray the lives of young New Yorkers at the time, the artist spent years hanging out with skaters downtown, particularly in Lower Manhattan's Washington Square Park. Along the way, the artist encountered 18-year-old Harmony Korine and many of the actors who were cast, regardless of their acting experience.

These artists would go on to shape the future of skateboarding, art, fashion, and underground culture. They capture the launching moments of the careers of Justin Pierce, Harold Hunter, Chloë Sevigny, Leo Fitzpatrick, Jeff Pang, Keith Hufnagel, and Javier Nunez, all of whom embody the energy that still reverberates through the city today.

Decades later, the spirit of that era remains: the people, the streets, the way they behaved—all of which left their mark on New York and global culture.
