Lao bamboo baskets woven in a small village in Laos. Throughout the village, you can see people making bamboo strips and weaving baskets while swinging in hammocks in the shade of trees.
The skin of green bamboo, which is similar to Japanese Madake, is shaved as thinly as possible using a knife, and woven while soaking in water. The process of creating a three-dimensional shape from a flat surface is similar to the process used to create the Gyori of Iwate's Shinotake. A light and supple woven basket is a great item for storage or interior decoration.
