While staying in Yosemite for a long time, when he was looking at a big rock and wondering which line to climb, or while he was climbing, there was a "rock" that caught his eye for a moment and stayed in his mind. Since he couldn't bring his camera when he was concentrating on climbing, he returned to take a picture and took a picture of the "rock". He can't put into words why he was attracted to it. So he took a picture and retraced his memories and encountered it again. All the photos were taken in Yosemite, but even though it is the same granite, the texture of the rock's surface is different in the Valley and High Country. The monochrome gradation that highlights the texture makes it impossible to judge how big the rock is. But somewhere in the vastness of Yosemite, the same rock as in the photo definitely exists.

Born in Tokyo. Graduated from Musashino Art University, Department of Spatial Design. Self-taught, he began taking photographs while traveling around the world during his university days. He discovered skateboarding on his first visit to New York in 1996, and has continued his creative endeavors while commuting between New York and Tokyo ever since. He began producing zines in 1998 as a means of presenting his work. He has been visiting Yosemite since 2010, continuing to create his work, and released the photo collection "CAMP4" in 2014. He is currently based in California.
