Product description
Title derived from two movies
When I finished my second book, Days of Night, a photo book of New York and Tokyo, I was broke and at a loss. So it was during a downturn that I got a call from a news photographer friend. He started using digital technology, completely cleaned out his car, apartment, bags, and jackets, and decided to get rid of three bags worth of film. Did he think calling me would be easier than just throwing him away?
Anyway, I was happy, so I bought him a beer. Anyway, what should I take? Some of the film was so old that it had been exposed to X-rays at the airport. I was worried that some used items might be mixed in, so I decided to take some photos from near my home in Oslo. In addition to architectural details, we observed graffiti, objects, trees and flowers, and other important parts of the city's identity that are often overlooked due to their ever-changing nature. The architecture of a city vividly expresses its era and history, and also shows the process of change. Much of modern Oslo was established at the end of the 19th century, and the literature and paintings of that era were my inspiration for this project.
The title "Oslo F." was inspired by two films: "Christine F.: Days of Drugs and Prostitution" and "Death at Oslo Central Station." What "F" means is open to interpretation. Fiction, photography, fantasy, flowers...or maybe a "fictional" area in a city.
